So I wanted to share this poem I wrote. Its inspired by something someone told me at some point and right off the bat I'd like to make it clear that it. Is NOT. PERSONAL.
So here it goes:
Do not come to me seeking solace in your most desperate moment of need
There's nothing I can offer you to ease your pain, not a word of advice or a comforting deed
Do not recount to me past favours and promises, all empty words once spoken
How on earth do you expect me to fix you
When I myself am broken?
Your cries for help don't fall on deaf ears and yet are still in vain
Because you seek shelter in all the wrong places, like searching for warmth in the rain
As much as I wish I could help you, I cannot come to your aid
Instead all I can say to you is : A burning tree offers no shade
Do not come to me seeking solace in your most desperate moment of need
There's nothing I can offer you to ease your pain, not a word of advice or a comforting deed
Do not recount to me past favours and promises, all empty words once spoken
How on earth do you expect me to fix you
When I myself am broken?
Your cries for help don't fall on deaf ears and yet are still in vain
Because you seek shelter in all the wrong places, like searching for warmth in the rain
As much as I wish I could help you, I cannot come to your aid
Instead all I can say to you is : A burning tree offers no shade
